1. For Advanced Tandem Instructor Certification, a candidate must:

a. Meet all requirements for Instructors stated in 12-13.02-A "General Requirements for ALL Instructors being Certified or Re-Certified.

b. Successfully complete a minimum two-day Tandem Instructor clinic administered by a Tandem Administrator. One day of the clinic is devoted to tandem flying certification. A second day is devoted to the use of the USHPA Tandem Training Syllabus, teaching techniques for training student pilots using tandem gliders, and the Fundamentals of Instruction. Tandem Instructor candidates holding a Basic Instructor or Advanced Instructor Certification are not required to attend the Fundamentals of Instruction portion of the clinic.

c. Have at least 25 logged tandem flights of at least 500' vertical descent or at least 2 minutes duration over a minimum of 7 flying days as pilot in command using the designated launch method. These flights may only be flown during a Tandem Instructor clinic, or after the candidate has been issued a Basic Tandem Instructor certification. Candidates who are tandem rated pilots in another country may have this requirement waived by a majority vote of the Tandem Committee.

d. Be at least 18 years of age.

e. Submit a copy of their first aid training certificate.

f. Submit a copy of their training syllabus or curriculum.
